  Noted events in his life were:

Relative. 1054,1704 William was a relative and close counsellor to William the Conqueror and fought with him at the Battle of Hastings. He was one of the earliest and most vigorous advocates of the invasion of England, and tradition holds that, at the Council of Lillebonne , he convinced the doubters amongst the Norman barons of the feasibility of the invasion.

Troops. 1703 William may have tricked some of the duke's subjects into offering additional service during negotiations on the duke's behalf.

Reward, 1066. 1705 The Conqueror gave William the Isle of Wight and lands in Hampshire as a reward for his loyalty. Later he received an earldom in Hereford as the King created a cordon between the western counties of England and the kingdoms of Wales.

Governor, 1067. 1706 When the Conqueror returned to Normandy, he entrusted Willaim with the responsibility to govern southern England from Wincester.


William married Adeliza De Toni, daughter of Robert De Toeni Lord of Belvoir and Unknown. (Adeliza De Toni was born about 1064 in Of., St. Saveur, Normandy, France 1051 and died after 1135 1051.)
