• Surname. 362,365 Margaret's maiden name may have been Rouse. One of her sons was given that name, and it continued to be used for many generations in the Helme family. The Rouse family name was in use early in Maine and Massachusetts, with ties back to England. A Nicholas Rouse of Wemberry, England (the current Wembury, a mile or so south-east of Plymouth, on the south coast of Devon), came to Casco, Maine (in present-day Cumberland County) about 1630, and dwelt with Thomas Alger, who was from Newton Ferrers, about a half-mile away from Wembury. There is also a "ffaithfull Rouse" who appears in the Massachusetts Applications of Freeman on 29 May 1644.
