No sponsors were named; as his parents had recently arrived in Dutchess county and they probably knew no one. Presumably they came to Dutchess from Marbletown NY near Kingston.

  Noted events in his life were:

Offices, 1724. 185 The election in the North Ward of Dutchess County in Kipsbergen 7 April, 1724, recorded William Schot as constable; and in 1732 William Schot was elected one of the two assessors. He was elected constable twice and assessor twice. He also served as a justice in October 1741 for a Poughkeepsie trial.

Marriages and Children. 185 William and Mary had seven children beginning in 1735. Cornelius was fourth.

William had three children with his first wife, Helena (Lena).

Mary had been married to William Umphries (Humphries) 25 Feb 1728.

Profession. 181 William's first home was of frame near the east end of the pond lot which consisted of about 20 acres. This was the miller's ggrange which he cleared and worked. At the time of his second marriage, a new stone house was built for him and his family on the side hill near the mill. The house stood until about 1880 and the pond lot became a public park.


William married Mary (Maritje) Derrickson (Dirkse) deHoyer (Hoyer), daughter of Cornelis Dirksen deHoyer and Cornelia Bogardus, on 2 Feb 1734 117.,180 (Mary (Maritje) Derrickson (Dirkse) deHoyer (Hoyer) was born on 10 Nov 1700 in New York City, NY 180 and died in Kingston, NY 180.)


William next married Helena (Lena) Cole circa 1710 in prob Rhinebeck, NY.
